Usually at this time, NCRA would be sending all CLVSs a renewal notice for the upcoming year with an October 31 deadline. However, going forward, NCRA will be migrating CLVSs to a calendar year renewal whereby the renewal would expire on December 31 instead of October 31. This change will mean that current CLVSs will receive two extra months of CLVS renewal free of charge.
Additionally, the Board has implemented other changes regarding the CLVS renewal fee structure. If you are a:
- Registered or participating members, you will no longer pay a separate CLVS renewal fee. Going forward, annual membership dues will include the CLVS designation at no additional cost.
- Associate members, your CLVS renewal has been reduced from $60 to $25 annually.
- Non-NCRA members, your CLVS renewal fee will remain $60 annually.
If you are currently a non-member CLVS, it is strongly recommended that you join NCRA as an associate member at a cost of $145. In addition to the reduced annual CLVS renewal fee of $25, becoming an associate member entitles you to:
- Receive NCRA’s Journal of Court Reporting (JCR) throughout the year, keeping you abreast of the issues and changes in the court reporting and legal videography fields.
- A complimentary listing in NCRA’s Court Reporter Sourcebook (NCRA’s membership directory and highly used referral tool for reporters and legal professionals).
- Member rates for NCRA conventions and seminars.
- NCRA’s TechTracker e-mail newsletter, EquipmentMart, and members-only online content.
- Access to NCRA’s insurance plans through MARSH.
- Opportunity to purchase advertising space in the Professional Services Locator (PSL).

During the month of August, all current CLVSs will receive both an email and a letter detailing the above changes. Renewal materials will be mailed to all CLVSs later this fall.
