Software Training - NCRA Annual Convention - Anaheim, CA - July 27
The traditional Track C/Software Training, for current CLVSs, will be offered at NCRA's Convention in Anaheim, California, on Sunday, July 27.  Track C will NOT be offered in New Orleans in September. CLVS Seminar/Forum - New Orleans, LA - September 5-7
The next Videotape in the Legal Environment Seminar and Forum will be on September 5-7, 2008, at the New Orleans Marriott in the French Quarter of New Orleans. .

CLVS Production Examination - New Orleans, LA - September 5-8
The final portion of the CLVS certification process will be held in conjunction with the September 2008 Seminar/Forum. Registration for this exam will run June 9 -21. Time-slots will be assigned on a first come first served basis. Submitting a form prior to the deadline does not garuntee a time-slot. In their March 2008 meeting, the NCRA Board of Directors unanimously approved the following position statement regarding the CLVS program and certification:

NCRA strongly recommends the use of a Certified Legal Video Specialist to ensure the integrity of both the videotaped legal proceedings and the utilization of the electronically recorded media. A CLVS has been trained on the professional standards, ethics, and responsibilities of creating and maintaining the record.

Additionally, the CLVS Council has released a revised mission statement that was also approved by the Board:

The Certified Legal Video Specialist (CLVS) Council sets and enforces standards for competency in the capture, utilization, and retention of legal video and promotes awareness of these standards to the legal community.

Both statements reflect exciting new growth within the CLVS community, and new enhancements to the program are coming soon!

In February, 2008, the CLVS Committee held the CLVS production examination in Dallas, TX, which is the third and final step in becoming a CLVS. Click here to see who became certified in Dallas!

Certified Legal Video Seminar & Forum

Certification and Testing

Written Knowledge Test
This examination is now offered four times a year nationwide at Pearson VUE professional centers. This exam is a 100-question multiple-choice test. Click here for future exam dates and registration information.

Production Examination
The CLVS Production examination is offered two times a year in conjunction with the Seminar & Forum. The next exam will be held September 5-8, 2008 at the New Orleans Marriott in New Orleans, LA. The exam is a 30-minute mock-deposition in which legal videography ablilites are tested. Registration information for this exam will be posted in early June.
